Six factors can move you away from the chart
Wind
Wind can increase heat loss above the water, especially while sitting, walking back to the car or changing afterward.
Session duration
A suit that feels comfortable for 40 minutes may be insufficient for a much longer session.

Compressed foam, stretched openings and failing seams can make an older suit colder than a new model with the same label.
Body shape and fit
